Are glastron boats any good. General Pros and Cons for Glastron Boats. If you spend any time researching Glastron boats youre likely to come across the main reason people like these particular boats namely their cool looks. Due to their unique visual appeal some of the older models were featured in the epic James Bond films.
They are known for their streamlined looks with full windshields. Glastron is a runabout icon. Theyve been around at least since the 60s and the older ones have a distinctive paint scheme on the sides so you can pick em out anywhere.
They are solid boats but need to be cared for the same as any other boat. They areprobably mid-tier boats as far as quality and creature-comforts. The newer Glastrons fit and finish are very good overall and theyre very solidly constructed but primarily an inland lake skicruisefish boat.

IMHO its a very nice boat for money. No they arent on par with Cobalt but my price tag was MUCH MUCH less. There have been several similar threads here use the search function and youll find lots of good info.
IMHO Regals are just a better boat all round build quality is way ahead of the Glastron. We were quite set on the Glastron until the trial and if Im honest it changed our thought process so we ended up buying a smaller boat as it was our 1st rather than splashing out on a big boat straight off as wed planned. The Maxum is basically the same boat as the Bliner with some extra fancy trim and upholstery.
Not unlike purchasing a Ford truck - you can have the plain Jane XL or one with all the creature. SeaSwirl Larson Glastron are fairly good boats - middle of the road quailtiy wise since they are genmar boats they all come from the same molds kind of like pontiac chev and oldsmobile. Same boats differant badges.
The older boats have a little more individuality to them and a bit more character. Owning a legendary Glastron boat is being part of a 60 year legacy of luxury and high end fixtures at affordable prices. Make it a Glastron Summer.

I personally would not take one on the ocean they arent really designed for rough water. I suffer from a serious eye problem I cant see working when the fishing is good. Marquis will no longer be manufacturing the Larson brand of boats.

But for some reason I dont really care about Glastron Four Winns or Wellcraft but it sucks to see a brand like Scarab tarnished so badly. What was once one of the most reputable race boat and sport boat brands now makes floating hot tubs delegated to pulling fat kids on tubes while getting about 1 mile per gallon.
In 12 short years by 1969 Glastron sold over 60000 boats an impressive number. And the Marketing Department had a big part in that success. I am curious to know how many of our viewers remember these boats and if they have any connection to this period.
Let us know with a comment of a photo. The boat planes very quickly depending on the crew size if 5 adults in the cockpit and an empty bow shes a dog though just need to shift weight up front. On a normal outing we have 2 adults and 2-3 smaller kids with us and she does just.
They are a heavy-hitter in the boatbuilding world and theyre here to staywhich is likely good news for Four Winns Glastron Wellcraft and Scarab. A boat manufacturer or any manufacturer for that matter always has to wonder whats going to happen next when theyre owned by a private equity group and although Platinum did an excellent job of reviving these brands it should be a relief to come under the umbrella of a boating. We have both a Rinker boat and a Cobalt boat for the past 5 years or so.
The Cobalt is a 2002 model 240 and the Rinker is a 2004 model 212. The Cobalt is a premium boat with very good fit and finish on every component. The Rinker is a more economy minded boat with OK to good fit and finish.

Both inside and out the Glastron GS 259 will surprise you with how much room you can find in a 25 long boat. Another nice thing about that cockpit. Its as adaptable as a Swiss Army knife.
