Trim tabs are a system for keeping your boat level while moving through the water. I have had Lectro Tabs in the past and have ordered three or four sets for other people.
This trim tab kit fits a variety of units.
Electric vs hydraulic trim tabs. That said fast moving trim tabs are not a desirable feature for exact control particularly at high speeds. A hydraulic system is responsive and provides the boater with more control over the trim tab movement. Some claim that electric actuators are incredibly fast and responsive.
We make both hydraulic and electric Trim Tabs and we have a lifetime warranty on the actuators for both systems. Both have advantages and disadvantages dingbat brings up a particularly good advantage for hydraulics. I would stick with stainless trim planes.
Tom McGow Bennett Marine. Simply discard the hydraulic pump unit the 2 Bennett cylinders. Install the 2 Lenco electric actuators 6 leads with the new-style upper mounting brackets on your existing Bennett trim planes.
Connect the Lenco actuator wiring to the existing harness jumper wires are included for attaching to current switch. Bennetts make a hydraulically operated trim tab that works well. However as well as electric cables hydraulic oil and tubes are an additional added complexity that I choose to avoid as an hydraulic oil leak in the boat is the last thing to be dealing with.
Lenco make an electrically operated tab that use a screw ram jack to move the trim tab. I spent the entire winter before having the tabs installed going back and forth between Bennett hydraulic and Lenco electric. They are both great companies and both are terrific products.
If you look on high end boats you will see both used Grady uses Bennett while Whaler uses Lenco. The trim tabs themselves are 18X9 and while dirty look fine. I have convinced myself i want the new trim tabs to have an indicator switch but that still leaves me three choices.
Bennett Bolt Electric Retrofit Kit Switch 580. Bennett Hydraulic Kit with Switch 604 or 645 with everything. Lenco Bennett to Lenco retrofit Kit Switch 509.
I have had Lectro Tabs in the past and have ordered three or four sets for other people. The install is pretty straight forward and you do not have to find a place for a pump like with the hydraulic trim tabs. My current boat has hydraulic trim tabs and they seem to do all right.
Problem is I am caught between the tried and true hydraulic type that have been installed about a gazillion times and are at least for me a known quantity but require all the hydraulic lines and the space lost to a hydraulic pump etc etc. On the one hand and electric tabs on the other hand that are self-contained and only require a couple of wires to be run to a power source and to the control switch on. Trim tabs operate independently from port to starboard to adjust for uneven loads and wave conditions.
When the helm control is pressed the trim tabs move into position. When they are deflected downward the water force on the trim tab surface creates upward pressure raising the stern and lowering the bow. The principle is simple.
Here are our trim tab reviews. SEI MARINE PRODUCTS Trim Tab Kit. The SEI MARINE PRODUCTS Trim Tab Kit is a great value trim tab.
This trim tab kit fits a variety of units. It is made by the reputable SEI MARINE manufacturers who are known for producing marine products of a high quality. Total weight 12 ounces.
BW offers the 210 with hydraulic trim tabs. Other BWs are offered with electrical trim tabs. Why the difference from boat to boat and which are better.
Sorry if this question has been brought up before but you guys are the experience on these things and this trim tab stuff is new to me anyway. Test Your Knowledge Of Hydraulic Vs. Electric Trim Tab Systems - ProProfs Quiz.
Test Your Knowledge Of Hydraulic Vs. Electric Trim Tab Systems. How well do you know the differences between hydraulic and electric trim tab systems.
Hydraulic Vs Electromechanical. There are two major types of Trim Tab systems on the market hydraulic and electromechanical. Both systems have been around for many years.
In fact in the 60s Bennett Marine manufactured an electromechanical system later changing to the hydraulic system due to its many advantages. I think a boat pretty much has to be on the trailer to adjust the other type of tabs. The Electric ones operate the same as the Hydraulic.
I believe they are a powered screw cylinder. A primary purpose of trim tabs and interceptors is to modify the trim or the water flow past the boat so the hull adopts the best attitude for speed and ride. Simply put both interceptors and trim tabs aim to lift the transom and lower the bow while underway for a smoother faster and more fuel-efficient ride.
Aug 25 2009. I just spent some pretty penny rebuilding my bennett hydraulic trim tabs and replacing the old rotary switch to a toggle style switch. After getting everything installed was in a hurry I realized the hydraulic pump and the switch cost me almost as much as the Lenco electric trim tabs.
I am looking at installing trim tabs and am unsure as to the better option. I have tired of the boats lean into the wind. I have all but ruled out QLs and am looking at either Bolt electric or the hydraulic equivalent.
I am hoping to get the good and the bad feedback from uses of both systems of trim tabs and whether one type is inherently better than the other. Because the actuators stop and start immediately with the press of the switch they provide precise control and instant response time. Electric trim tabs do not require the installation of hydraulic hoses and pump and are generally regarded as easier to install.
Hydraulic trim tabs planes are controlled by hydraulic cylinders. A hydraulic pump inside the boat provides the pressure to actuate the cylinders. What Are Trim Tabs.
Trim tabs are a system for keeping your boat level while moving through the water. Trim tabs are plates that are placed on both sides of the boats stern. They are connected to hydraulic or electrically controlled rams.
Also known as trim tab actuators. These rams can push the plates down which pushes the water down. The hydraulic-to-BOLT Electric Conversion Kit also provides all you need for a quick and easy trim tab conversion.
A World-Wide Reputation for Quality. Bennett trim tab systems are lower cost than those of other companies saving boaters 3-5 on average over equivalent models. If you are willing to spend the money and want a better ride I would recommend the hydraulic trim tabs.
I selected Bennett after reading a lot of blogs Electric VS hydraulic. I learned Bennett has a great customer service department customer support and warranty track record.
