I am transferring a 65 motor vessel from Portland Maine down to south Florida.
Sailing from maine to florida. How long a sail from Maine to Florida. If you look at a chart you can see the distance to Florida is about 1500 miles. Big fast boat you go non-stop maybe 10 days.
Small slow boat take your time and smell the roses maybe a couple of months. Long Island would take less time. We left Maine on October 18 sailed and powered over 1500 miles to reach Fort Lauderdale.
This evening December 18 we will leave Florida for the Bahamas. After 1500 miles in 2 and three day passages down the US. Coast we will travel for fewer than 20 hours to reach a foreign country.
EW says we have been on a delivery taking the boat from one place to. Were cruising aboard a small sailboat Baby Blue an Allied Luders 33 sloop. By living simply we hope to stretch our funds in the cruising kitty to keep us afloat for at least a couple of years.
The only thing separating us from endless summer is the 2000 miles of coastline from Maine to the Caribbean. We normally make the trip from Maine to Florida or the Bahamas with casual days and short hops offshore along with much ICW travel that we enjoy. When not making ca 5kts under sail we motor at 65kts at a little less than 1 gallon per hour.

None of these sounded good to us because. ONCE AGAINwe want to be sailing the Eastern Caribbean Sea one more season THEN hopefully then we plan to accomplish one of the above. 2020 hindsight says should have sailed homebut so it is.
